Located in the heart of London’s busy Pall Mall, this Grade I listed building is a magnificent Georgian structure, originally opened in 1828, that is now home to the Institute of Directors (IoD).

The quinquennial (5 yearly) works programme for external redecoration and repair to the listed building included works to 3 principal façades facing Pall Mall, Waterloo Place, and a private garden.

Overall the works covered an area of 37,000 sq. ft and focused on 3 internal light-wells, and the roof, which is made up of mansard, asphalt and slates with leadwork which underwent considerable repair and refurbishment by our highly skilled restoration supply chain. Additional areas that were refurbished included all of the external elevations, additional lightwells, roofs, windows, doors, walls, porticoes and sculptures.

The Curo Construction team introduced an advanced phasing programme, which was designed to minimise disruption to the daily functions of 116 Pall Mall and ensured our “invisible contractor” ethos, with segregated operatives and a traffic solution implemented from day one. Also, additional programming emphasis was given to completing the portico and façade in time for the building’s events season, so disruption was at an absolute minimum for our client.

In addition, any loud or disruptive works had been scheduled to take place over weekends to again minimise distraction and disruption to those using 116 Pall Mall for meetings, co-working or holding functions.
