Overview.

The Channing School Performing Arts Building is an exciting multi-purpose theatre for the school situated in North London.

This impressive scheme has provided students, teachers and the surrounding community with a state of the art space, which allows the flexibility to easily move between performance modes, including music, theatre and teaching.

This £6m project also allowed the school the opportunity to develop their outdoor spaces, which previously had not been available to the children. A new landscape scheme has provided the school with new access roads and entrances, open green space, new playground areas, as well as peaceful seating areas for the children and teachers to study outdoors or to sit down and enjoy their free time.

The project team worked through the many challenges presented to them by working within the heart of a live private school and delivered a building comprised of many different elements, including a basement building, a hybrid structure made up from RC, steel frame and CLT, the installation of sophisticated theatre equipment, and a high end finish.
