Curo Construction has continued to work with Channing School to further upgrade their ever-expanding facilities.

This phase provided new elements to the Junior School section of the development, including dining hall and kitchens, subterranean changing rooms, classrooms and external play areas with integrated landscaping.

The first phase of this scheme included extensive enabling works to allow for safe access into the school grounds by forming a new entrance off the busy Highgate Hill road. As the school remained live during the construction phase, we set up an extensive separation and management structure to manage this interface.

The construction of each of the elements came with their own challenges. Deep excavations for the subterranean sections, temporary and permanent support for the connection into the existing buildings for the dining hall and challenging underpinning to insert the new class rooms beneath the structure. The Curo Construction site team, while rising to these challenges, also completed the new buildings using reinforced concrete substructures, steel and CLT frames, matching brick work and glazing, as well as using other construction methods to complete the interiors.
