Curo Construction have delivered 3-9 Huntsworth Mews, NW1 within the heart of London’s busy West End. The project comprised of period properties all featuring extensive use of London brick and other traditional period features. The redevelopment focussed around a complex “cut and carve” of the original office space into 4 high end two-storey mews houses.

The works themselves entailed a complete strip out package of all existing properties (a net area of 3’502 sq ft), new structural support, upgrading the internal finishes as well as the below ground drainage to meet the new increased demand. The team also undertook works to the roof including the installation of new roof lights and some conservation repairs. The project was logistically challenging; surrounded by residential properties in a Conservation Area with restricted access and limited space for material laydown and deliveries. This meant the programming of the build and sequencing of trades was key to maintaining the momentum on site to meet its fast paced 9 month programme.

This scheme included many aspects of construction, from strip-out and refurbishment to additional new build activities and high end finishes whilst still meticulously retaining the impressive period features such as original sash windows, exposed original brick walls and respecting the original shape and size of the door openings and decorative features, tribute to the carts and horses once stored within.
